In the time from the 7th march until 12th march 2010 we had the opportunity to participate on the Bill Smith´s 17th Airborne Mini-Reunion in Lancaster, PA. There was only three of us from Czech Republic, Cenda, Pavel Jr. and Pavel Sr.. We could meet 18 veterans of the 17th Airborne division together with their family members. And everybody treated us like family, it was great ! We have to thank again all those people who made this event possible, therefore a big THANK YOU goes to Michell Smith, Rose Friday, Isaac Epps and Peter Schleck. They were also the last few, who shared the last moments with Col. Townsend and just to listen to their stories with him in this sad time, was touching for all of us.
After one year, we could also meet our longtime friends, Sid Laufer and his beautiful girlfriend Carol and Frank Munafo and Eliana Munafo. The last time we saw them in Prague, Czech Republic.
Most of the veterans we have already met in Hampton, VA at the last official reunion. To see them all again and have the time to talk and share, was like an early Christmas for us. We also have remembered Col. Del Townsend on the 9th of march 2010 together. And as we realize, people all over the globe did so, what a gesture for a man like Del was. Me personally, I will never forget the feeling by the speech of Col. Korman. I felt something really special in that church and I can still feel it now.
The time passed by and the reunion was over, but we all hope to see each other next year, same place.
We would like to wish every veteran of the 17th Airborne Division a good health, many happy moments and we hope to see all of you soon again.
